Uninvited Dinner Guests

Ever look around a room and feel glad you don’t belong?

Jeffrey A’Hearn’s provocative collection of 16 oil paintings takes a wry look at our contemporary global culture wars.

Uninvited Dinner Guests is the latest series of oil paintings by internationally acclaimed artist, Jeffrey A’Hearn. Sixteen zoomorphic portraits provoking deep reflection on the enduring presence of autocracy, misogyny and cruelty allow audiences to peer behind a mask, or see the historical figure for who they really were or are. Follow a shadow or a brush stroke to experience the paradoxical acceptance of tyrannical figures juxtaposed against paintings of influential female icons in animal form. Even in the face of egregious violations and unjust marginalization of women, the worldly acclaim or ultimate demise of each Uninvited Dinner Guest, is a welcome experience.

About Jeffrey A'Hearn

Jeffrey A'Hearn

Jeffrey A’Hearn is an internationally recognized artist and human rights activist. He masterfully juxtaposes the nature of humanity against backdrops of conflict and beauty. His artwork has been shown on four continents and commissioned across the globe including Japan, France, Holland, England, USA, Venezuela and Australia.

Exhibitions for Uninvited Dinner Guests, The Pantheon of the Gods diptychs, and his Botanicals series exemplify A’Hearn’s dedication to the arts and global human rights across four decades.

A presenter of the K.M. Hunter Foundation Award for Visual Arts, A’Hearn led the World-Scholar Athlete Games Fine Art Program in Rhode Island, and owned the gallery, Purgatory, which successfully amplified diverse works from Canadian artists. A’Hearn's dedication to social justice has seen him organize projects such as 'Don't Drive By', presented at the 2005 World Social Forum in Caracas, a collaboration aimed at empowering disadvantaged youth and aiding victims of gun crime through art education programs and charitable contributions.

A'Hearn's life and career are as captivating as his oil paintings with contributions to major film and television productions, widely patronized stage performances, and precedent-setting, equity-focused legal reform around the world.
